Exciting Things Happening

Such an exciting month!  I cannot believe that Idol is already in its final stages, but I am so proud of this year’s contestants. You can’t imagine the stress and pressure it takes to perform at that level every week, and they do it with such grace and humility. But I hate Wednesday because I don’t want to see any of them go home!

On the creative front, I have been in the studio with Carrie Underwood, Every Avenue, Tina Parol (a new artist coming out) and working on songs for Disney’s new Camp Rock.  ”I Do Not Hook Up” continues to climb the charts and check out my single “Wanted” by Jessie James, which is starting out at pop radio.

Other exciting news (which I still can’t believe) is that I am in People’s 100 Most Beautiful People issue and no, I did not say “shave my nose,” I said SHADE my nose (which helps it look a bit smaller). Very funny. I am also thrilled to be going to the White House Correspondents dinner on May 9th to show my support for this administration’s efforts in getting our country back on track.

Till next time, GO ADAM, GO DANNY, GO KRIS (in no particular order)!!!!!!!!!!

OH a “pop in” from the star of Idol! The White House! WOW! Your nose is beautiful just the way it is. Sorry, God made your nose in harmony with your face. It all works together. Leave it alone! It defines who you are. I have a feeling you will help Allison come up with an awesome album. It might even be better for her not to have to be under the Idol contract. But call if you need a photographer for the cover.. Ok I’m dreaming….
Well if I have to choose between the three. Kris! He is adorable, he’s got the look and seams to be a real musician and musical artist. He shows real raw talent to me. A perfect Idol for me, besides Kara! HeeHee. So one of the 100 Most Beautiful People. I’m not surprised you’ll soon be in the top 10….. I bet! And an intelligent and sweet one!

Kara, You are a wonder! Busy, talented, tough and beautiful! I really like your blog and your website. Kudos to your designer! It is fun to navigate. On a side note the photos were not loading for me from the web site so you might want to check it out.

Kara Just wondering if there is a recommended route to follow for those of us that write poetry/lyrics but not music/melody? I’ve been told many songwriters write music and lyrics simultaneously and have no need for lyrics. Then I hear it said that many musicians are in always in need of new lyrics.

I have loads of words and if someone needs ideas for a song I am making mine available! I am not imagining any stacks of money but feel curious if there is a way to contribute to the world of music.
Keep up the great work on Idol and everywhere! Thanks Kara!

    Hi Kara,

I’m so happy with this updates..

The “shave my nose” story is very funny, I like it :)
and about your name in People’s 100 Most Beautiful People, actually.. I never imagine about that title before, even I know you are really beautiful, I just imagine you with the Grammy or that kind of stuffs. It’s surprising me a bit but I absolutely agree with People magazine. You are beautiful, event before AI..I like your hair and your style in the video of recording “Surprise Surprise” with Celine Dion. That’s awesome,Kara!!

About AI, I really hope you still on the panel for next season and next other seasons.. Even Simon already mentioned it, I still worry though..
I like Adam and Allison, I think Allison has a very powerful voice and if you help her with a song like “Sober”, I can’t imagine how adorable it is!!

    Keep creative and rock on,Kara!!

  6. Nat27 Says:

    Hey

I have to admit that I wasn’t Adam’s biggest fan from the start but OMG!! He is rediculously talented and its really sick the way he can sing….If I was able to vote on American Idol I would absolutely vote for him!

Looking forward to the new music, no doubt all of it will be great!

    Have a good one!
    Natalie

  7. Lou Says:

Kara, you don’t need to shade your nose and you certainly don’t need to shave it! Your nose is cute as a button. What’s not to believe about being in People’s 100 most beautiful anyway? You are gorgeous, beautiful on the outside and the inside too. You’re a true inspiration and a fantastic role model.
You deserve all your success, you’ve never given up, you’ve worked so hard to achieve your dreams, taken the knocks, picked yourself up and grown from the experiences life has thrown your way. It’s not easy to get into the music industry and even harder to thrive in it. Believe me I know.
You’re dedicated and committed and you give your all in everything you do on a business and personal level. Your personality shines, you’re true to yourself, a real genuine and honest person and that comes across on Idol and in all your interviews. You’ve made a good impression and won over the hearts of many people both friends and strangers alike.

I watched your interview with Bonnie Hunt on Youtube last night. In the last part of the interview you talked about your Mum and how you cared for her throughout her battle with Cancer. Your song, “My Bra” is particularly special to me right now, it has a deep meaning in my life at present and is helping me through a similar situation with someone special in my life. They say music heals…well your singing and your lyrics are proving to be My Bra right now. I love to watch you perform and hear you singing. Your voice lifts my spirits and helps me to be strong. I sometimes think you don’t recognise how good you are though. You’re so humble and grounded.

Thank you Kara from the bottom of my heart. One thing is for sure, your Mum is watching over you and she is so very proud of you. You’re a credit to her memory.
Keep smiling and keep being you Kara, you’re a truly special person and a talented one too…
Now where’s your album and your performance on the show? :0)

Hugs from across the pond in Simon land.

    Hii Kara,

This blog made this one of the best days ever for me, I’m pretty much the happiest 15 year old girl in the would right now, ahh !!, i can’t even express my excitement !!!! haha.. I should probably explain why… I’m a huge carrie fan and of course a huge fan of yours as well, and have been waiting to hear something about you two working together, i know you wrote “Sometimes You Leave” for her which I absolutely love, and now i can’t wait to see what might be on the next album !!! (: , Also I hope to see you on Idol again next year, you bring some very good opinions and give some really great advice to the contestants, and if I was able to vote, I actually wouldn’t know who to vote for, this year they were all so talented its amazing and it will be interesting to see who wins, anyway i could probably type for ever but I’m gonna go call my best friend and tell her the good new about you working with carrie !!

    love you bunches, <3
    xoxo,
one of your biggest fans from canada, alisha :)

  9. Pamela Says:

OMG! You’re working with Carrie? She’s one of my favorite singers! I know Sometimes you leave, and it’s actually one of favorite Carrie song! OMG, so happy with that!

Oh, and your nose is beautiful Kara, you didn’t need to worry about it! lol

And.. can I go to that white house thing with you? Could you came pick me up in Brazil? lol

I love you, baby! Best wishes!

  10. gregdrozd Says:

OK Kara - here comes the critic…

Although the judges fell all over Adam, his performances were perhaps his weakest ever! His trademark scream does not to be in every song he does. It has now become for me a VERY THEATRICAL DEVICE that is less about singing and more about stage performance. To hear it every time also shows a lack of range, and therefore a shortness of real talent.

All the performances were weak - a real disappointment at this time. It’s like they have all given up. There is no lust for the crown.

I have to side with Simon about Kris’ performance of the song you help select for him. It almost looked like a set-up; your criticisms were almost as over the top as was your praise for Adam’s sub-par performances. In fairness, you were not alone. But, as it always shows this time of the season, Simon is the definitive judge.

As you know by now, my bias is toward Kris. I like his style, which might not appeal to everyone - I am a guitar player who sings for my own entertainment. And as with every artist, there is room for improvement. I want to see him grow. I hope you are signed up to help him out, even as maybe a 3rd
place “winner”. Regarding Adam and Danny, I could care less how they finish. It’s a moot point at this time. I’m guessing it will be a while before we ever see another Idol winner as exciting as Carrie Underwire (my nickname for her). David Cook has something going on, but not close to Carrie or Kelly (who is little more than a fizzle these days). The real winners are the 3rd and 4th place contestants - they try harder.

  11. Janet Says:

Hey Kara! You fit right in with the Judges and I love to hear your comments. Yes I agree Kris could have changed up the song you chose. I guess he played it safe because you guys picked it. Simon is quite an ass sometimes blaming it on you. Then he realized it and agreed with you on another subject. But what a performance for Kris on the second song!! This guy has raw talent. He gave me goosebumps! He feels the songs he sings. Adam is only good because he is different. I don’t feel his songs. He preforms them and does have a good voice but there is no warmth and no emotion. There’s just no connection for me. He’s blank…. But Kris?? I just want to kiss that adorable guy! You too Kara!! lol I like Danny and his voice but he’s bla and trying too hard. Oh Carrie and Kris….. there’s a couple of Idols that could make an awesome meaningful song. That’s all folks! The ones I like don’t always win….

  12. Janet Says:

One more thing….. In this years Idols, I will follow Kris and Allison to see what more they can do.

  13. m3andjp Says:

Kara, I know you are a bright talent that is very capable of judging Idol performances. I only have one question/suggesstion. Why such a huge emphasis on “originality”? Many of the songs performed are popular because of the way the artist made it. If a contestant can perform a song, like Kris performed apologize, like the original why criticize him. It sounded a lot like the original, and that was not easy to do. I thought it was a great performance and wrongly criticized. Many Idol contestants in the past have performed orignal songs like the artist that made it with great success. I think re-creating a popular song sometimes is not a good thing. TOO MUCH ORIGNIALITY. We like the songs the way they were made.

  14. Jayme_Y Says:

Carrie Underwood!! Wow. I love her, and it’s awesome that you are working with her! Oh, yeah. I read above that you wrote “Sometimes You Leave” for Carrie. I LOVE that song.

That’s exciting about the white house! I’m all for the Kris and Adam finale, I think it will be interesting:). I like them both a lot so it doesn’t matter to me who wins.

I love you on Idol, too bad they didn’t find you earlier!

  15. jenn91 Says:

    Hey Kara,
You looked kinda shocked when Kris was announced as one of the final 2. But I guess, based on the guys’ performances last week when Allison was voted off, a lot of people were thinking that out of the 3 guys left, Adam and Danny were gonna make it through to the finals. Were you thinking that? Honestly? lol.
However, this week Kris definitely showed that he deserved to be in the finals. Simon had said from the start: he should start believing in himself (or maybe he said that to Matt Giraud) -and that’s exactly what he showed in his rendition of ‘Heartless.’ And that performance, I think, was the defining moment for him which pretty much gave him one million more votes than Danny.
But Danny has been one of the most consistent contestants throughout the competition, always delivering great vocals. So now that he’s voted off, I hope it’s not gonna be the end of him.
Adam is awesome too and I know this finale will be interesting…but I do kinda suspect that Kris is getting votes based on popularity and Adam based on talent.

  18. Janet Says:

OMG Kara you sexy thing! I did say less is more but Kara baby! The Judges were wide eyed. Such a cool moment for you. You have to see the look on her face when you started singing. I recognized your voice and jumped out of my chair! So cool Kara. I think they said you have an album I have to check it out. I am so glad AI found you. You belong on the stage and you were sooo cool! So funny. This season was the best season ever. Certainly this finally was the best! I am so proud and happy that people saw the raw and musical talent in Kris. I am one happy camper this year. But I’ll miss you Kara. Your the best and you looked so beautiful tonight. Not bad for the top 10 sexiest woman huh? Well that’s my opinion but you wait and see…. xxoo

One of the highlights of the finale- YOU upstaging ‘Bikini Girl’- kudos for showing her how it’s done by a professional!
Wow, this season’s finished already? I hope you’ve had a blast on Idol and I hope we see you next season.
Regardless of who won, this season has had some really talented people- not just Kris and Adam- the top 13. All I have to say next season’s contestants gotta step it up. It just shows that you don’t have to win to be successful- and I KNOW that Adam will be successful- HOPEFULLY- if he puts out the right records.
Kris really did deserve all that support from his fans- including me though I like Adam too.

    Go Kara!
That brainless bikini bimbo really brings out the feisty side of you. And that feisty attitude totally helped you get through your stage fright. I loved the look on her face when she heard you singing. You totally upstaged her and rightly so. You’re one talented little lady!!
You’ve got it all; the voice, the body, the beauty, the brains, the personality, the humility and the best quality of all, a heart!!

    Hi Kara,
I have to be honest, until yesterday’s finale I had not make my mind yet about you…. I rocked!!!! I became your fan for good. Not only me but everybody in my home. You are beautiful, classy and very talented. Love, BS

  30. babiana Says:

    Ops… YOU ROCKED!!

  31. Lorri Says:

    Kara,

Over the last few years, I have been involved with the U.S. Army & law school. I’m out of the Army and I just finished my first year of law school. Before I got so busy (about 6 years ago), I was really good about keeping up with music & rare talent. American Idol introduced me to you (LOL… sounds like Randy… for me for you for me). I really love your voice. I’ve never heard someone use the word “chops” so much, at least not on Idol, but you, Kara, certainly have some chops. You write great songs for others. I haven’t done all my research yet, so I’m sure you have a reason… but why aren’t YOU the one singing your songs? It seems, like others have said, you have it all. I’ll just have to keep searching YouTube for your “demo” songs (not sure if that’s what you call them, but the songs you write & sing just before giving them to someone else to sing…).

    I think you’re great!

    Lorri

  33. cuhere Says:

i really love the song ‘no boundaries’ as it is well thought of. The lyrics is very uplifting to those who are in pursuit of a desire that one may have a passion for such as music. it is a perfect exit song for idol contestants who gets eliminated, as to let one know that whatever path they choose to pursue , such as music, it doesn’t necessarily have to end because of obstacles, such as being eliminated. as long as one has the courage to continue, they will do just fine. That thing you did with the bikini girl, i thought it was classic and all good, because it was to show her that when auditioning for a singing competition, there is no need to show off one’s body, because that’s not what it’s about. it’s about how one voices themselves thru music. In the case of the audition, where there’s no music, where the contestants are singing acapella, they have to know how to sing in tune. i do believe you’re a brilliant songwriter, the lyrics to the songs you’ve written are very believable. I really love the lyrics to ‘no boundaries’ I hope you will continue to be a judge on American idol, because your critiques are worthy, afterall, you were part of the panel who brought in my favourite contestant this season, Adam Lambert.

  34. Ines Says:

    Hey Kara,

    You are AMAZING!
I loved how you sang on American Idol (Katrina Darrell’s face was priceless) and I wish we could get more of that. I’m playing your songs, happiness, strangers and angels, nobody sees, lost, terrified, taking chances, crying at the disco, like all the time! I love your voice and the passion you put into the music. Hope we’ll have more of these soon.
I liked Jason Reeves’ new song, the one you showed us and I absolutely love and respect you, even more, for your wonderful job at Phoenix House. You’re the one to follow, you are THE role model. :)

AH! And one more thing! Shaved nose, shade on the nose it really doesn’t matter… You absolutely deserve that spot in People’s 100 most beautiful People.

  35. agirlfromUtah Says:

Kara, I loved the AI finale. I have to say my most favorite part was you coming out and singing and then taking the dare for your charity. You rock!! I love that others have seen you as a role model. Thank you for standing up for us women and showing that being sexy is kindness, brains, a positive attitude, hard work, being physically fit, and sharing your thoughts, ideas, and dreams with others. What’s on the inside is so much more appealing and beautiful. I hope you’re back next year. You kept me watching (well and the great performers too). I’m a big fan now!!!

  36. Lou Says:

    Using Kara’s judging style…

I got 6 words for you

“THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT!”

    and another 6…

“THE BEST VOCALIST IN THE WORLD!”

    and another 6…

“THE HOTTEST BODY ON THE STAGE!”

and finally 3 words to finish…

    “THAT IS ARTISTRY!”

I’ve always championed Kara. She’s got it all; the voice, the body, the beauty, the brains, the personality, the humilty and the best quality of all… a heart!

She’s one super talented lady and is my American Idol!
