Happy Holidays
I’ve had such a great few weeks. I was in NYC keynoting the Dow Jones/Nielsen Media & Money conference where Bill Werde (Editor of Billboard Magazine) questioned me about the future of the industry. Billboard magazine puts on this conference, and it was fun to see some of my old colleagues (including my old boss Howard Lander) from when I worked there back in the late 90’s (yikes that’s really dating me). After the conference, I headed to Nashville and worked with some kick-ass artists like Sara Evans, Rascal Flatts, Darius Rucker, and Lady Antebellum. I love going to Nashville, cause there’s always a new twist on a phrase I would have never imagined. In Nashville you can really write songs that have depth, emotion, and heavy themes (all of which have become almost archaic in current pop). Don’t get me wrong though, I still love to get down to today’s mainstream commercial radio.
The final leg of my trip ended in Southern Connecticut University where I spoke to a few hundred college kids and locals about my history, and the stories behind the songs I have written. I had never put on a show like that before, and I left wanting to do more. The audience left me inspired and wanting to share my stories.
I hope each and everyone of you had a heart warming Thanksgiving. xo

HallLllLOOOO!!
Ahahahhaha!! you’re really a busy body…
in a good way of course. loving the thing that you do.. .and doing it great!
Wow Love Sara E. and rascal flatts…. Country music really makes me go standing still…. Nashville is indeed the place to be. hoping to be able to visit there in the near future.
And it is really great to be seeing good ol’ pals from wayback when… catching up on things and stuff is great! What is really important is to have that opportunity to see ‘em all again…
Wow! doing some speeches from time to time huh!?!?! How’s the experience? What’s really the story behind the songs you’ve written? Hope you can share that somewhere here… the BEST and most significant ones if you might coz i know there are really too many to mention list of the masterpieces you’ve done.
Happy thanksgiving by the way!
Godspeed!

You Kara D are super talented! I can’t wait to hear some of the new material you have been working on. You’re really working and owning your star right now. I hope this season on Idol people begin to understand and appreciate you for who you are and what you have accomplished and continue to nurture and develop not only yourself but for others. I want them to see the warm, funny, endearing side of you as well as the professional, supportive, constructive and coaching side of your personality.
You’re an asset to Idol. You’re an asset to Warner, to Arthouse, to Phoenix House, to your craft as an artist and songwriter, to your family and friends and your supporters and admirers. You constantly give a part of yourself to all of these people and projects in your life and you deserve every ounce of success you achieve. You truely do work your ass off girl and I have the deepest respect for that!
On another note, had I not been working events here in London the weekend you did your Connecticut show, I’d have flown across the pond, visited friends in NYC and stopped by to see you. That would have been so special. You really should do more of these shows. I’d fly over for sure unless you fancied a trip to London…
Keep up the good work. You inspire me in many ways.

You were absolutely amazing in Conneticuit! I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to be there and watch you work your magic, it was way more than worth the trip! Thank you again for signing my Songbook, that meant I lot and what you said has effected me more than you could ever imagine! I think of all the live performance video’s and things of you I’ve heard, your rendition of Lost that night would have to be the best! The way you held out the note on “dream” was incredible!
I am so glad you are having a great few weeks =] The way you talk about Nashville makes me want to go there and experiance it now. Rock on and good luck with Idol =]
