New Year, New Update
First, please say a prayer for the all the people affected by the tragedy in Haiti…appreciate everything you have.Idol rocks this year! We have such great kids on the show. There are so many genres represented in the Top 24, which makes for an even more interesting competition. And Ellen is Amazing!I shot my first cover for a magazine (Women’s Health), and it was truly a surreal experience. I never imagined being photographed for anything more than my school pictures…..and for someone who struggled with their body image early on, this was an incredible experience.
I am back in the studio this month with Simple Plan, Susan Justice, Versa Emerge and Iyaz. I will be headed back to Nashville at the end of the month to work with Lee Ann Womack, Sara Evans and Dierks Bentley.
Look for Colbie Caillat’s new single “I Never Told You” that I co wrote. She sounds amazing. Also check out Iyaz’s new single “Solo”, and Jason Derulo’s, “In my head.” So proud of my Warner Brothers artists!

Hi Kara, I’ve been watching the auditions. They are not my favorite part of Idol but I have to tell you that I love the way you find the camera and look into it! A great way to connect with the home viewers. I hope you will continue to do this. It could be your thing as a judge! I am looking forward to the real competition. First cover shot?? I bet there will be many more and I hope you do enjoy all the attention. Oh and Ellen will definitely bring humor to the show and I really don’t care what others are saying. You and Randy are the real judges and it is nice to have another opinion and to lighten everybody up. I did hear that Rosie O’Donald might take over Simon’s place but I really don’t think that would work! Oh it would change into a comical show and change the whole dynamic of the competition. I really hope that doesn’t happen. Two comedians are way too much. Just my opinion, But Kara Rocks!! Keep it all up. It is all great as far as you are concerned!

Sounds awesome Kara! Haha, Idol has been very intense so far. You rock! “I kissed a dolphin, I liked it.” Haha That’s the only correct way to sing that song now!
I saw the video from your Woman’s Health shoot and I can already tell the pictures are going to be so awesome! You looked amazing and you should be so proud of yourself that you overcame those body issues and were able to do that, I know from firsthand experiance how hard that is and you are a true inspiration for doing so =] By the way, I love your Billboard Cover too!
Lot’s of love to you and I hope you’re enjoying Nashville!

Hi Kara, I don’t know why no one is commenting here. Maybe they are commenting in your forum but I’ve registered a few times and can’t get in. Anyway last night all the judges seemed to be lightening up a little. Simon just looks annoyed to be there. Kinda like when you give your two week notice at a job and then have to work the two weeks. lol Maybe you should start punching or smacking him or something to make him snap out of it. Anyway, you do look great as usual and in case you were wondering how you look in HD. I know the fun hasn’t started yet since Ellen is new and you guys are not used to the change but I think it will develop. You have to kick Simon’s ASS and tell him to at least have fun for the time he is there. You can always boss him around a little and then say, “Your leaving anyway”. lol I don’t know who can replace him but I think an established country star might work. Maybe a male actor/comedian that can sing. Idonno.
Carry on Kara, you look great from my end,
Janet
PS Yea the Texas dude is just adorable!! And he can sing!! lol Oh and your adorable too!

Wow! hello there Kara!
My oh my! I enjoyed watching the Guys night performance at American Idol.. you look really cute by the way when you get to be picked on by your fellow judges… heehhehe
And the kara-casey RomCom is definitely a winner! LOL I just love the fact that you can carry yourself well being faced with that situation. I just didn’t love the B**** comment but it can fade away easily… you’re definitely likable!
I agree with Janet when she says that Simon needs to light up a little. He always shows a grumpy face and as if being there is a total waste of time… The judges want the contestants to lighten up and enjoy themselves as they perform and do their thing but how come the judges aren’t loosening up a bit and enjoy too!?!? I know you are having a great time while you’re there at the panel… it shows…
Godbless you always!
PS: Ryan definitely looks cute whenever he mentions you or do some crazy stuff which concerns you… his acts are showing something.. LOL hahahahah!

Hi Kara I just looked at some comments on AmericanIdol.com and some are so senseless and brutal. If the comments are not constructive then they are worthless and immature. Your the star as far as I’m concerned. My last idea about a replacement judge for Simon has changed. I’d like to see a producer from broadway or Las Vegas become a judge considering some of the Idols landed on Broadway. Then there will be no conflicts with the judges as they are now and it wouldn’t matter whether they are popular or not. Just my idea if in fact they have another judge. I do like the three of you just as you are. I saw Alison on the last show and there’s something about her voice that moves you. She reminds me of a modern Stevie Nicks. lol I also saw that you co-wrote one of her songs. Cool! Oh if they hire Howard Stern I wouldn’t work with him either. There’s a reason he’s on radio.
I could say more but I wont.
Carry on Kara! It’s fun to see you on TV,
Janet
PS Hope your reading this!! lol

Ok my last two cents on this blog until Kara makes another post. I am disappointed with Ellen because she usually very funny and spontaneous. She is talking about the contestants being pushed, but I think forced would be a better word. She is “pushing” herself and she just seems way to serious. I wish she would just be herself and offer her own opinion instead of saying “What we’re looking for” because really she is not a recording artist and the people vote. If she would just be herself and offer her own heartfelt opinion. I can see she is being pushed into the words she is saying, so the person, whoever you are, just leave Ellen to be herself!! I think she knows what to do. She’s has mastered her own art of communication. Kara! Help her out! You can talk to her a little you know. You don’t have to rub her leg. lol
Kara the Cougar has a 19yr old secret admirer that I know of.
Shhhh and I bet there are many more!!

Kara, I haven’t commented in a while, so I thought I was overdue to give some feedback.
1. The judging this year is the best it has ever been. Honest critiques are what’s required and all of you - even Ellen - are providing. And for the first time I am finding my judging to be on par with the panel. But, don’t get a big head…
2. I am disappointed, however, when the judges fail to point out the superficial use of an instrument as ornimentation. Some players are legit, but a couple contestants are just using it as a prop. Kinda like the large black man (I call him Green Mile just cuz I can’t remember his name, but the dude that caused you to have a “Paula” moment). The “forgetable” sond he did with the guitar - so sad. It added nothing to the performance and did not give him any credibility as an artist. That said, he is a good singer with personality, so I wish him well.
3. The dreadlock girl from Ohio (my current home state) is a little self-indulgent. She’s good, but not that great. By that I mean - not idol worthy. She is, however, a valid contestant.
4. Sad to say that your “eye candy” is not worthy either. The little short guy w/the guitar who opened this week’s show - he’s a little off key, but he has passion. Neil Young, Tom Petty, The Boss, Bob Dylan, etc, really are all off key, but have all done well. If this kid gets some good writing and production behind him, he is viable (but you already have commented on that). I wonder, has Idol ever produced the full package / real deal “artist”…one who can write w/o tutoring from you or other songwriters? I am not aware of anyone. You need to find someone like Avril! Someone who sings and plays and WRITES!
5. It bothers me that so many contestents don’t get it, when it comes to defining themselves as an artist. Just because they can sing, if they can’t project the passion or the emotion of the song (whether they feel it or not) then they don’t have the communication skills it takes.
6. Finally, when are the producers gonna open things up and do a complementary show (Ancient Idol) where some older people can compete. It would have to be a little bit different, but I think it’s valid to see singing talent just like Idol’s, only from an older group. All we got is karioke!
Greg
PS…you are hotter this season then last, now that America has gotten to know you. You’re my best reason for watching the show. If the talent doesn’t get on board, though, I may find myself as a viewer very bored and disengaged.
Good luck, and enjoy yourself!
